Also ... that night during the Varsity half-time game is Senior night so I encourage you to stay and support Clara and Caitlin on their last home game of the season.

Tuesday,Feb. 8th:
Wear spirit colors to school. Go BIG and be CREATIVE ... it's our last game and we are playing PA. Do it up!! Wear your uniform minus the liner to the game. There has been a change to the schedule for the PA game. Both JV boys and girls are playing at 3:30 pm so you will only cheer for the boys game in the main gym. You will ride the bus over to PA from school and I haven't been given the departure time yet so I will let you know as soon as I know. You will remain at the gym for the remainder of the Varsity games. I anticipate the bus being back to the Sequim high school around 9 pm. If you decide to ride home with a parent or sibling ... I must have written permission from your parent. Just to clarify a verbal permission from your parent is not acceptable.

Wednesday, Jan. 2nd:

My email is: surfnberries@yahoo.com. I ask that each of you send me an email so that I can add yours into my contacts. The Youth Cheer Camp was a success and we couldn't have accomplished that without everyone's help. I am so proud of all of you for getting up early (ugh!) and giving your all to the day and the event. I have received many feedback comments and they all expressed how much we touched their daughter's life. You girls influence these children in such a way that the parents feel the positive impact and are grateful for that. :)

After the game on Friday I had a individual come up to me and comment about the lack of respect that some of the JV cheerleaders showed during the playing of the National Anthem during at the start of the Varsity game. She remarked that there were several girls who were at the top of the bleachers who were talking and being loud. She was very disappointed in the fact that not only were they cheerleaders but that these girls were not showing proper behavior during a moment that should be respected and valued. BUMMER!!!! :(

I told her that I expect more from my cheerleaders and that I would take this opportunity to educate you all on the appropriate behavior that should be shown during the anthem and/or the pledge of allegiance. Remember it's NOT really about being a cheerleader but more about being a US citizen and showing pride and respect for our country. Although because these girls were identified as cheerleaders she decided to pursue the issue. Unfortunately ... we are judged more harshly because we are cheerleaders and I wish it wasn't that way but ... it is. I have had several people approach me recently about various moral "issues" in regards to being a cheerleader. All I can say is ... at the end of the day, cheerleader or not, we are people and we make the same mistakes as everyone else. Let's just do our best to be respectful, responsible, and make good decisions. Let's take this comment and learn from it. You all know that I am constantly re-evaluating things and doing my best to make adjustments when necessary and I just ask that you do the same. :) Swaaaweeet!!

Wednesday, January 26:

Practice for both JV and Varsity from 3-4:15 pm ... we will do some stunting practice AND Zumba. We need to get back to conditioning and stunting ... so come prepared to dance, stunt and have some fun!! :)

Friday, January 28:

JV
: Dress up for school and wear your uniforms to the game, hair up with bows. Please be at the gym by 4:45 pm and REMEMBER you MUST attend the Varsity game at least until after the half-time performance with the "youth cheerleaders".

Varsity: Dress up for school and wear your uniforms to the game, hair up with bows. Please be at the gym by 6 pm to help warm-up the "youth cheerleaders" in the auxillary gym.

Also: If you ordered a "Youth Camp T-shirt" you can wear it for the half-time performance ... if you didn't just wear your uniform and smiles.

I want to again thank you all for your attendance Saturday at the Youth Camp. I know it was really early and I just want you all to know that I am grateful for your support to the community. Already parents are calling and FBing me about how great the experience was for their child(ren). So ... give yourselves a pat on the back for a job well-done. I have the totals for the Gold-cards and will be finishing up the last bit of statements tomorrow. Look for your UNIFORM statements in the mail this week. I am getting a bit nervous for some of you who not only have significant balances but haven't made ANY payments. Just to remind you ... you CANNOT try-out if you have a remaining uniform balance ... so don't wait till the last minute ... PLEASE, it stresses me out!! :) I would be heartbroken if someone couldn't try-out because they didn't pay off their previous uniform balance. Okay, well let's have a great week and I will continue to shower you all with compliments, happiness and encouragement. :) Is that better?! Ha Ha ... couldn't help myself. :)

Schedule for January 17-22

Monday, January 17 ... NO SCHOOL

TUESDAY, January 18th:

School day attire:
Varsity and JV must wear skirt, liners and football jerseys to school. Due to the cold weather you may wear your warm up pants UNDERNEATH your skirt, if you choose. Please wear the designated cheer shoes as well. NO EXCEPTIONS!! Due to the lack of participation on previous "jacket and jeans" day and "dress up" days ... I am forced to have all cheerleaders in uniform for school on game days.

JV game starts at 5:15 pm and EVERY JV cheerleader must be at the gym 30 minutes prior ... so don't be late!!! So ... that means by 4:45 pm you must be at the gym ... READY to stretch. If you are at the gym at 4:45 but in the bathroom doing your hair ... that doesn't count!!! You must be in front of the bleachers stretching at 4:45 pm. Hair up with bows!!! NO BOBBY PINS!!

Varsity game begins at 7:00 pm and EVERY Varsity cheerleader must be at the gym 30 minutes before the start of the game ... so that means 6:30 pm. Same thing ... NOT in the bathroom straightening your hair or doing your make-up!! Hair up with bows!!!

WEDNESDAY, January 19th:
Optional practice ...
to learn the youth cheer dance from 3-4:30 pm ... at the latest. All Captains are required to attend this practice!! Please if you are able to attend this practice we can use all the help we can get and we can plan a cool "stunting show" for the youth cheerleaders. :)

FRIDAY, January 21st:

School day attire: Both JV and Varsity are required to DRESS UP!!!!!!!!!!! From now on if you do NOT participate in the dress up days or whatever the designated school day attire is you must attend a "special practice" designed for those individuals who are NOT following the game day attire. I do not expect you to go buy clothes to dress up for school however ripped jeans are absolutely NOT acceptable. Nice pants, a skirt, etc. is considered dressing up ... so just put some pride into your "dress up" decisions and look nice ... PLEASE!! Otherwise, we will wear our uniform to school every game day ... so that's the alternative. :)

JV game begins at 5:15 pm and you again must be at the gym by 4:45 pm ready to stretch. Please wear your uniform and hair up with bows.

Varsity game begins at 7:00 pm and you must be at the gym by 6:30 pm ready to stretch. Please wear your uniform and hair up with bows.

SATURDAY, January 22nd
Youth cheer camp in the HS Cafeteria from 8-12. Please be there at 7:30 am and plan to stay at least till 12:15 pm to help with clean up. Wear your polos for the Saturday camp. Bring water and a snack for yourselves. Unfortunately, we have NOT had the attendance participation that I was hoping for so again if you know of ANYONE interested have them contact me asap. Unless we have more kids sign up we won't make a profit to apply to uniform balances. I consider this event a community service opportunity ... however, I was hoping to have a big turn out and be able to apply some funds to the uniform balances but I need your help!!

On a brighter note ... both JV and Varsity performed STELLAR at the games against PA. The half-time performances were awesome. Several people from the games commented on our sharp uniforms, our boundless energy and someone even mentioned that we are the best cheerleaders in our district!! I am beyond proud of all of you. I know that back to back games are extremely demanding and I just wanted to let you all know how great you did this past week. REMEMBER ... in between cheers/chants ... unless you are rallying you MUST stand in "attention". It's amazing how professional we look standing in "attention" and it keeps us from being fidgety. :)
